Good strategic planning helps nonprofits clarify where their organization is going, how it’s going to get there, and how it will know when it’s arrived. It creates the framework for board and staff to focus their energy and resources toward common goals. This half-day workshop is a practical introduction to the key concepts and techniques of strategic planning and will help participants understand how to design an effective planning process that meets their organization’s needs. Learn the Four Essential Steps in Strategic Planning: Environmental Scan: Is the process of gathering, organizing and analyzing information. In addition, it’s a process that surveys and analyzes relevant data to identify opportunities and threats. Strategy Formulation: Based on the information gathered during environmental scanning, you should hopefully have a clear picture of what needs to be addressed in order to accomplish your business goals. Strategy Implementation: The most important part of implementing a strategy may be communicating it clearly to begin with. The entire organization should be engaged and made aware of the organization's long-term vision. Strategy Evaluation: Every organization should strive for continuous improvement, and so part of the strategic planning process is taking a moment to monitor and adjust as needed.
